This article discusses how it’s possible to have beautiful, glowing skin that won’t cost you hundreds of dollars each year. With just some simple changes in lifestyle, you can have great looking healthy skin with no expensive products involved!
- Wash your pillowcases- Everyone should be washing their pillowcases 2-3x weekly. We produce oils during the night and they are left on the pillow that we repeatedly lay on. I always recommend to sleep on one side one night, and flip it over the next. I also advise to wash sheets 1x weekly or at least biweekly.
- Hydrate- It’s so important to stay hydrated. It’s recommended to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces per day. Water helps to release toxins, keeps our organs running (skin is the largest organ). It also helps balance our oil levels.
- Eat a healthy, balanced diet. Your diet should include green leafy vegetables, fruit, protein, etc. and limit processed foods sugars, alcohols, etc. Healthy skin starts in the gut, and what we eat greatly effects our skin overall. If you are acne prone, suffer from eczema, rosacea, etc. food plays a huge role in getting your skin back on track.
- Supplements- Zinc, Omegas, and a dairy free probiotic are my go-to for ultimate skin help. Zinc is known to improve health overall, as it strengthens the immune system. Omega- 3 fatty acids serve to regulate the skin’s oil production, improve, and balance hydration, minimize signs of aging, and can be a tremendous help with healing acne internally.
- Clean makeup brushes weekly-These brushes harbor bacteria after so many days, so it’s best to clean them weekly. The best way to clean them is with a brush cleaner or an anti-bacterial soap like Dawn or Dial with warm water and let them air dry. Making this a weekly habit will prevent putting bacteria back on to your face and clogging pores.
- Sleep– Try and sleep at least 7-8 hours at night. We always want to look and feel rested, when we aren’t it shows in our face.
- Mindset– Having a healthy mindset is so important. Avoiding stress overall is the best thing, but that sometimes is not practical. What is practical, is how we respond in stressful situations. Remember to take deep breaths, take a bath, meditate, do something that will destress you . You are in control.
